Voting Booths
Now it is time to register to vote. Go to your local polling station, or if you have the latest version of Adobe Reader, download the voter registration card.

Buy a subscription to the local newspaper or community magazine. This will quickly get you up to speed on what is going on in your new neighborhood. Also, you can turn on your television and tune into the local news to see what is happening.

Forwarded Mail
Check with the post office or your old residence to make sure your mail is being forwarded to you, and that you have registered your new address. Make sure you have notified everyone of your relocation, including subscriptions, services, friends and family.

Medical Help
Finding new doctors is very important. Make sure that you present your new specialists with your old medical records and inform them of any ailments that you or anyone else in your family may have. Just to be clear, a dentist is indeed a doctor.

Do Your Banking
Taking care of your finances is one of the most critical aspects of settling in after a moving project. If you have no funds to turn to after you move in your new house, a lot of necessary steps would be missed. To take care of your finances, you must set up new accounts, get money transferred or order new checks with the new address. You may even have to switch banks to make things more convenient.

Insurance Coverage
Contact insurance companies, including household, auto and health. Find out if you are currently covered or if you need to create new policies with a new company. This is important to check, especially if you're moving to a new state or province or country.

Knowledge Is Power
Be sure that you visit your local library and get each member in the family their very own library card. Once you have a library card, you can consider yourself, home!
