'Tis the Season to be Worried

Santa Claus and the elves have all year long to get ready for Christmas, but do you? Most people allot a certain amount of time to the holidays, but there never seems to be enough. When you consider that households today have two working partners, school aged kids and many obligations, the holiday season can seem like an overwhelming challenge with no way out.

You are expected to decorate the house, shop for everybody's wish list and cook and bake like there's no tomorrow. No wonder that December is National Stress-free Month! Someone took the time to recognize that there's a lot of pressure this time of the year - over and above the usual!

What to Expect During December
During the month of December you can expect:

  • Longer lines at the post office as you mail off your bundles of holiday cards.
  • Even longer lines at the shopping malls and stores as you stand in line getting this year's most popular toys and clothes. We won't even address the day after Christmas as you stand in lines that wrap around the mall to return the items that don't fit or are not the right item all together!
  • People ready to take you for all you're worth. Sad but true! During the holiday season there are many more pickpockets and unsavory characters lurking about as you happily and obliviously go shopping for your presents.

December and Beyond
Yet it's not only about the holiday hoopla of presents, decorating and baking. During the holidays there are many parties which translates to drinking and driving. You have to be so much more careful while on the roads. If you live up north there are additional concerns with snow and icy road conditions.

When you look past the season of giving, after the last beautifully wrapped gift has been ripped open, you start to think of the credit card bills that find their way to your mail slot. Wouldn't it be wonderful if there really were a Santa? No bills for toys or electronics!
